Chemical DPC Injection

Chemical injection is one of the best-known rising-damp treatments. It is not a general-purpose answer to every wet wall, but it can work well where the problem and construction suit it.

What is injected

Modern systems commonly use creams or liquids designed to spread into masonry or mortar and reduce capillary moisture movement. Hole spacing, depth and the chosen injection line depend on the wall and product system.

When it makes sense

Injection may be suitable where genuine rising damp is established and an effective physical DPC is absent or no longer functioning. The surrounding details still need checking for bridging.

Why plaster is often part of the specification

Salt-contaminated plaster may remain damp-looking after the masonry has been treated. A remedial specification can therefore include removing affected plaster and replacing it with a suitable system.

Questions worth asking

Ask what evidence supports the diagnosis, where the injection line will be, how bridging will be dealt with and exactly what plaster work is included. A treatment description is more useful than a promise that a wall will simply be “damp proofed”.
